Where do the VPM neurons in trigem leminisc synapse in cortex?
Primary somatic sensory cortex (touch and proprioception)
Where do 1neurons travel in Trigeminothalamic tract?
Down spinal trigeminal tract! like lissaures
Where do 1neurons synpase with 2nd/2CB of trigeminothalamic tract?
Spinal trigeminal nucleus- medulla

Where do 3neurons go in trigeminothalamic?
cinulate gyrus (from med. dors nuc): emotion
SI: from VPM
Insula/S2 (from VPM): affective aspect pain
What is the function of trigeminal (CNV)?
Carry somatosensory info for:
face, scalp, eyes, sinuses, teeth, eardrum, oral cavity, ant 2/3rd tongue
Control muscle of mastication Sensory functions for discriminitive touch of face/dental pressure Jaw proprioception Face pain/temp Innvervates dura mater
What are the 3 parts of CNV?
V1: Opthalamic
- forehead to top of nose
- enters superior orbital fissure
V2: Maxillary
- nose to lips
- enters Rotundum Foramen
V3: Mandibular
- ear laterally to chin
- enters Ovale Foramen
What are the 3 nucleus groups from midbrain-medulla
Trigem mesenceph nuc: proprioception
Trigem main nuc: touch, dental pressures, mechanoreceptors
SpinalTrigem Nuc: oral, interpolar, and caudal
What is in the trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus?
1CB for proprioception afferent fibers
ONLY CNS ganglia
What is in trigeminal main nucleus?
2CB for discriminitive touch/dental pressure
mechanoreceptors
Where does the spinal trigeminal nucleus occupy?
ponse to caudal medulla/rostral C-spine
What are the 3 parts of the spinal trigeminal nucleus
- Oral: 2CB orofacial fine touch
- Interpolar: 2CB for orofacial pain, temp, and itch
- Caudal: 2CB head and face pain, temp, and itch

trigeminal mesencephalic tract
Where is the 1CB of the trigeminal mesencaphalic tract?
trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus
-goes from muscle spindle NO CB in ganglia-> nucleus
Where does 1neuron synapse on 2CB trigeminal mesencephalic tract
trigeminal motor nucleus
AND
main nucleus-> decussates to contralat VPM
What is the viscerosensory pathway
originates from pressure receptors in pharynx, larynx, esophogause, and chest viscera
-axons in CNIX and X
What is the path for the viscerosensory pathways
CN IX/X-> solitary tract -> CAUDAL solitary nuclues (medulla)
