Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang (Drive Out Stasis in the Mansion of Blood Decoction) ***
Actions: Invigorates the blood, dispels blood stasis, spreads the qi of the Liver, and unblocks the channels
Indications: Chest and hypochondria pain, chronic, stubborn h/a with a fixed, piercing quality, chronic, incessant hiccough, a choking sensation when drinking, dry heaves, depression or low spirits, accompanied by a sensation of warmth in the chest, palpitations, insomnia, restless sleep, irritability, extreme mood swings, evening tidal fever, a dark-red tongue, dark on the sides of the tongue, dark or purplish lips, complexion, or sclera, and a chopping or wiry, tight pulse
Tao He Chang Qi Tang (Peach Pit Decoction to Order the Qi) **
Actions: Breaks up blood stasis, drains it downward and clear heat
Indications: Acute lower abdominal pain, smooth urination, night fevers, delirious speech, irritability, restlessness and thirst, and a submerged, full, or choppy pulse. In more severe cases, there may be manic behavior.
Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang (Tonify the Yang to Restore Five Tenth Decoction) ***
Actions: Tonifies the qi, invigorates the blood, and unblocks the channels
Indications: Sequelae of wind-stroke including hemiplegia, paralysis, and atrophy of the lower limbs, facial paralysis, slurred speech, drooling, dry stools, frequent urination or urinary incontinence, a white tongue coating, and a moderate pulse. Also for atrophy disorder w/same underlying mechanism
Fu Yuan Huo Xue Tang (Revive Health by Invigorating the Blood Decoction) ***
Actions: Invigorates the blood, dispels blood stasis, spreads the LV qi, and unblocks the channels
Indications: excruciating pain associated w/traumatic injury, especially in the chest, hypochondria, or flanks
Wen Jing Tang (Flow-Warming Decoction) ***
Actions: Warms vessels, dispels cold, nourishes the blood, and dispels blood stasis
Indications: Mild, persistent uterine bleeding, irregular menstruation, extended or continuous menstrual flow, bleeding btwn periods, pain, distention, and cold in the lower abdomen, infertifility, dry lips and mouth, low-grade fever at dusk, and warm palms and soles. The tongue may be purplish, and pulse may be fine and rough
Sheng Hua Tang (Generating and Transforming Decoction) ***
Actions: Invigorates the blood, transforms and dispels blood stasis, warms the menses, and alleviates pain.
Indications: Retention of lochia accompanied by cold and pain in the lower abdomen, a pale purple tongue or a pale tongue w/purple sports, and a thin, submerged, and choppy pulse.
Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Poria Pill) ***
Actions: Invigorates the blood, transforms blood stasis, and reduces fixed abdominal masses.
Indications: Mild, persistent uterine bleeding or purple or dark blood during pregnancy accompanied by abdominal pain that increases w/pressure. Also for immobile masses in lower abdomen w/pain and tenderness, abdominal spasms and tension, amenorrhea w/abdominal distension and pain, dysmenorrhea, and retention of lochia, dark tongue w/purple stasis spots and submerged and choppy pulse.
Dang Gui Shao Yao San (Tangkuei and Peony Powder) **
Actions: Nourishes the LV blood, spread the LV qi, strengthen SP, and resolves damnpness
Indications: continuous, cramping pain of the abdomen that is not severe, urinary difficulty, and slight edema (primarily of lower limbs). Such pain can occur during pregnancy or w/variety of gyn disorders.
Shi Xiao San (Sudden Smile Powder) ***
Actions: Invigorates the blood, dispels blood stasis, disperses accumulation, and alleviates pain.
Indications: Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, retention of lochia, post partum abdominal pain, acute, colicky pain in lower abdomen, severe pain the middle abdomen, or epigastric pain.
Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan (Fantastically Effective Pill to Invigorate the Collaterals) **
Actions: Invigorates the blood, dispels blood stasis, unblocks collaterals, and alleviates pain.
Indications: Pain in various locations such as chest, epigastrium, abdomen, back, leg, arm, bruising, and swelling d/t traumatic injury, rheumatic pain, fixed abdominal masses, internal or external ulceration, dark tongue, or w/stasis spots and wiry or rough pulse.
Shi Hui San (Ten Partially-Charred Substances Powder) **
Actions: Cools the blood and stops bleeding, clears heat, and drains fire.
Indications: Nosebleed or vomiting, spitting, or coughing up of bright-red blood, a red tongue, and a rapid pulse. Usually occurs as acute bleeding disorders w/sudden onset
Xiao Ji Yin Zi (Cephalanoplos Decoction) **
Actions: Cools the blood, stops bleeding, promotes urination, and unblocks painful urinary dribbling
Indications: Painful bloody urinary dribbling (w/blood in urine & urinary freq., urgency, burning, and pain) or simple blood in urine, accompanied by thirst, irritability, a red tongue w/ thin, yellow coating, and a rapid, forceful pulse
Huai Hua San (Sophora Japonica Flower Powder) **
Actions: Cools the intestines, stops bleeding, disperses wind, and promotes the mvmt of qi.
Indications: Bright-red bleeding from the rectum during defecation that typically precedes the passage of stool, blood in the stools, hemorrhoids w/either bright-red or dark-red bleeding, a red tongue body, and a wiry, rapid or soggy rapid pulse.
Jiao Ai Tang (Ass-Hide Gelatin and Mugwort Decoction) ***
Actions: Nourishes the blood, stops bleeding, regulates menstruation, and calms the fetus
Indications: Abdominal pain w/uterine bleeding, excessive menstruation, menstruation w/ constant spotting, post partum bleeding, or bleeding during pregnancy. Blood is pale and thin, w/o clots. Is accompanied by sore & weak low back, dull complexion, a pale tongue w/TWC and thin, frail pulse.
Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San (Chuangxiong Powder to be Taken w/green tea) ***
Actions: Disperses wind and alleviates h/a
Indications: h/a in any part of the head, which may be accompanied by fever and chills, dizziness, nasal congestion, tongue w/ TWC, and a floating pulse
