Test 2 Flashcards
Compares 3 or more IG to see if…
What is a One-Way ANOVA?
E.G Testing if 3 different diets cause different weight loss amounts
Compares the means of three or more independent groups to see if at least one group mean is different.
Compare the means of … check effects… 2 and 2…
What is a Two-Way ANOVA?
E.G studing how diet type and exercise levels both affect weight loss
Compare means of groups based on 2 variables, check effects between 2 factors
Compare means within… Repeated observations
What is a Repeated Measures ANOVA?
E.G Measuring a student’s test scores before, during and after tutoring sessions
Compares means within the same group at different times or under different conditions. Repeated observations
Extends ANOVA to compare… (M = Multiple) DV
What is MANOVA?
E.G Comparing how different teaching methods affect student’s test scores and class participation
Extends ANOVA to compare multiple dependent variables simultaneously
Compares group means while controlling variables that could…
What is ANCOVA (Analysis of Covariance)?
E.G Testing the effect of a training program on productivity, while controlling for employees’ prior experience
Compares group means while controlling continuous variables that could influence the dependent variable
Evaluates how a DV is … by 1 or more… and witin …
What is a mixed design ANOVA?
E.G Comparing how different teaching strategies affect students’ performance over multiple exams
Combines repeated measures and independent group comparisons. Evaluates how a dependent variable is affected by one or more between subjects and within subject factors.
E.G Comparing how different teaching strategies affect students’ performance over multiple exams
Hierarchy, structure… (Nested)
What is a Nested ANOVA?
E.G Studying the effect of different schools (nested within districts) on student’s performance
Used when groups are hierarchally structured (Nested)
Extends two way ANOVA to multiple… I F. Tests for main E… and Int…
What is a factorial ANOVA?
E.G assessing effects of diet type, Exercise level and sleep duration on weight loss
It extends the two way ANOVA to multiple independent factors. It tests for main effects and interactions between more than 2 factors.
In relation to correlation and regression, which of the two allows prediction and a which doesn’t?
Correlation doesn’t allow prediction, Regression does allow prediction
R values, Positive, Negative, Strong, Weak
How would you test the direction and strength of correlation?
If R value is above 0, the correlation is positive and if it is close to 1/-1 it is strong.
If R value is below 0 the correlation is negative and if it is closer to 0 the correlation is weak.
