Test 1.2 Flashcards
What is osteokinematics
It is physiologic motion
- motion that we can see
- movements that can be performed voluntarily
What is arthrokinematics
Accessory motion
- motion that we cannot see
- movements are not under voluntary control but require ROM
What is ROM affected by
Age
Gender
Injury
Activity level
If you have a soft end feel what is due to?
Edema/synovitis
If you have a firm end feel what is it due to
Muscular disruption/ scar tissue
If you have a hard end feel what is it due to
Bony block, fractures, myositis
If you have an empty end feel what is it due to
Ligamentous tear
Why do we use goniometry
- determine dysfunction
- establish a diagnosis or assessment
- develop treatment goals
- motivate the subject
- make orthoses or adaptive equipment
What are the procedures for using a goniometry
- testing positions
- stabilization
- joint structures and function
- normal end feels
- bony landmarks
- instrument alignment
What is a gravity dependent goniometer called and where is it hard to use
Inclinometer and hard to use on small joints
What is an electro goniometer used for
Used or dynamic joint movement
What does validity mean when talking about goniometry and what should you compare it to
Does the instrument measure what it is supposed to measure and radiographs
What is intertester reliability mean
Consistently measuring wrong
What does intratester reliability mean
Consistently measuring correctly
What are the joint measurements for the lower extremity
Hip
-femoral-acetabular joint
Knee
-tibiofermoral joint
Ankle
- talocrural joint
- subtalar joint
