On its way from Vienna to Italy, the plane carrying Captain Tate & 11 other passengers crashed onto a snow field in the middle of the Alps because the crew was unable to correctly navigate the plane due to overcast weather. While injuries among the passengers were minor, the people were concerned about how they were going to get back to civilization. Their only means of communicating was the plane’s radio. The crash survivors worked together to find fuel, conserve rations, & keep hope alive. After spending 4 nights in the plane they were spotted from the air & were rescued the next day by mountaineers.
