What are the types of motivation
- Approach motivation: release of neurochemical telling us that something that we enjoy gonna happen
- Avoidance motivation: Direct us away from threatening or unpleasant respond by releasing hormones that trigger a “ fight or flight” response
What are the source of motivation
- Intrinsic: Come from whiten, driven by internal reward (satisfaction and curiosity)
- Extrinsic: Driven by external factor like reward and punishment. (study to get good grade, work for money)
Liking vs Wanting
- Wanting: intense desire for experiencing pleasure. can lead to go past the point of enjoyable
- Liking: Actual sensation of pleasure. The circuits are more fragile and difficult to activate and harder to experience.
What is positive psychology
It is the scientific study of what make life worth living, focusing on positive emotion, trait and institutions. Allow individual and communities to thrive.
What are the 3 pillar of this psychology
- Positive experience (happiness, flow)
- Positive personality (resilience, optimism)
- Positive community/institution (school, family)
What is the difference between natural and synthetic happiness
- Natural: When we get what we want
- Synthetic: When we don’t
- Both are fulfilled as natural happiness, the brain create contentment when facing less than ideal outcomes
What is a Impact Bias
- Human tendency to overestimate how much futur events will affect our happiness
- Often people think achieving dream and avoiding failure play a big role in the level of happiness whit the truth being that we adapt much faster then expected
Freedom vs Happiness
- Too much freedom can make us less happy
- endless options can lead to dissactifation and second guessing
What are the main point of Antifragility (4)
1.Hapiness is not a constant state of joy but more like experiencing a range of emotions
2. Antifragility is the ability of benefiting from adversity (Growing stronger after a difficulty)
3. Post-Traumatic Growth is that trauma can leads to personal development and resilience
