chronic, pruritic eczematous disease that usually begins in childhood. Typically associated w/ allergies, atopy, asthma, hot showers, humid environments. This usually begins as an itchy area that turns into a rash as a result of scratching. Commonly found on flexor areas, spares face except eyelids, and wrist and ankles. On an infant shows up at 3 months on cheeks. associated w/ ichthyosis vulgaris and keratosis pilaris. dx__ tre__

atopic dermatitis, emollients and antipuritics (hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine), tepid showers then apply emolient, consider abx. pimecrolimus cream/tacrolimus if >2 yrs old
