A

(if cow vaccinated- fetus protected)

Early pregnancy: embryonic death
Mid pregnancy: congenital defects, or abortion
Late pregnancy: abort, born weak

wont kill calf- become poor doers

how to form chronic mucosal disease

A

PI calf
(calf thats mother was exposed to noncytopathic BVD at42-125 days gestation)

becomes exposed to cytopathic BVD strain or own BVD strain mutates

will be fatal, wasting, bleeding mouth, bleeding in tissues

A

ear punch

calves are so virus loaded that you can detect virus in their skin

take a skin biopsy IHC when placing ear tag
