A system created by the national library of medicine, for describing clinical drugs. It is the meaningful use specification for pharmaceutical names and codes in the United States
RxNORM
A system for exchanging information regarding the role of genes in biomedical research in the federal health sector
Human Gene Nomenclature (HUGN)
An example of consumer informatics. It is an electronic or paper health record maintained and updated by an individual for himself or herself, a tool tat individuals can use to collect, track and share past and current information about their health or the health of someone in their care
Personal Health Record (PHR)
A dictionary of laboratory codes and clinical test descriptors, originated by regenstrief institute and funded by federal support grants as a public resource for the common good. It is publicly usable without any fees or license
Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC)
Taking the scientific knowledge gained from basic advances in research to bedside by developing new procedures and modes of treatment to improve healthcare
Translational Medicine
The process in which individual data elements are represented in the computer by a special code to be used in making comparisons, trending results, and supplying clinical reminders of alerts
Clinical decision support (CDS)
The incorporation of computer images with aspects of artificial intelligence to detect and identify potential disease factors
Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD)
A standard that promotes a digital image communications format and picture archive and communications systems for use with digital images
Digital Imaging Communication in Medicine (DICOM)
