What is Gedankenlautwerden?
an hallucination where a patient hears voices which anticipate what he or she is about to think, or which state what the patient is thinking as he thinks it.
What is posturing?
passive or active maintenance of an unnatural position
What is folie a deux?
When a paranoid, delusional system develops as a result of a close relationship with someone who also has that belief.
What is Knight’s move thinking?
a disorder of thought where there is lack of connection between ideas
What is verbegiration?
drastic loosening of associations between words so patient will say senseless repetition of words/phrases
What is a delusion?
a fixed, false belief
What are clang associations?
linking words together with similar sounds
Who might experience depersonalisation?
migraine epilepsy depression panic disorder PTSD schizophrenia
What is mitgehen?
catatonic symptom - very slight pressure leads to exaggerated movement
What is flight of ideas?
accelerated thinking seen in mania with links between topics
How is flight of ideas different to loose association?
flight of ideas are linked, seen in mania
loose association are not linked and seen in schizophrenia
Give examples of nihilistic delusions
patient believes they are dead
patient believes parts of them are rotting
patient believes they have no future
What is anhedonia?
lack of pleasure
