Terminal Velocity Flashcards
1
Q
Objects falling through an atmosphere reach a what?
A
- Terminal Velocity
2
Q
Describe what happens to falling objects on Earth
A
- When they first set off, they have much more force accelerating them than resistance slowing them down
3
Q
As speed increases, what happens?
A
- Air resistance also increases
4
Q
Describe what air resistance does
A
- It gradually reduces the acceleration until eventually the air resistance is equal to the weight of the falling object
5
Q
What then happens when the two forces become balanced?
A
- The object will not accelerate anymore
6
Q
What does it mean when the object will not accelerate anymore?
A
- That it has reached its terminal velocity
