What is tuberculosis?
Tuberculosis is a disease that is an infection in the lungs that can spread throughout the body. It is highly infectious and is spread by saliva droplets from the mouth.
How do you prevent the spread of tuberculosis?
Do not share eating utensils, glasses, plates, towels, toothbrushes or beds with someone with TB. Also do not come into close contact with the infected person.
The patient should also make sure they take their medicine as described by the doctor.
What are the symptoms of TB?
A persistent cough
Weight loss
High temperature
What is malaria?
Malaria is a disease caused by the bite of a female mosquito how has then malaria germs.
What are the symptoms of malaria?
A high fever
Feeling so sick you cannot get out of bed
How can you prevent getting malaria?
Do not leave water lying around to become stagnant which stops the female laying her eggs in the water.
Use mosquito nets on your bed.
Use mosquito repellent especially at sunset and nighttime.
Wear clothes that cover your arms and legs.
Which famous person is involved in helping fight malaria?
David Beckham. He is raising money to give mosquito nets to all families so that they can prevent mosquitoes biting them and giving them malaria. Charity is called Malaria No More.
