A

An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. A place, state, or condition that is ideally perfect in respect of politics, laws, customs, and conditions. Comes from Greek words and means “no place”.

A

An imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one. Through a worst-case scenario, Dystopias make a criticism about a current trend, societal norm, or political statement.

Propoganda

Information, independent thoughts, and freedom are restricted

A figurehead or concept is worshipped by the society (eg. capital and its people in hunger games)

Citizens are perceived to be under constant surveillance

Fear of outside world

Citizens live in a dehumanized state

They society is an illusion of a perfect Utopian world

An example however can be because of the figurehead or concept that is worshipped by the society which is the capital and its people who are worshipped as greater by the districts, whether the districts like them or not

Setting - Square, District 12, and a flashback set outside of the bakery
Important things that happened - Katniss volunteered for Primrose as she bravely stepped up (it wasn’t that brave as she was about to cry and was nervous), Peeta Mellark was chosen on the boys side, he was told to be one of the sons of the baker and he had two brothers and a flashback happened where he gave bread to a starving, hungry Katniss Everdeen and also the three finger symbol is shown by the crowd to Katniss

Setting - Justice Building, in a car, in a train and the trains station
Important things that happened - Prim, the Mother, Marge, Gale, and Peeta’s dad (baker) visit her in the Justice Building. They say their goodbyes and advice to her and Peeta’s dad says thanks and Marge gives Katniss a mockingjay pin to represent her district as one thing is allowed.
