What are the four layers of a rainforest?
Emergent, canopy, understory, and the forest floor.
What is happening to the Amazon? Be specific.
The Amazon is currently being deforested, (Mainly in Brazil) especially in the eastern parts. Roads are being set up throughout the Amazon, where people buy property to take trees down as well as set up farms. This leads to the ecosystem in Brazil taking a major decline and one of the world’s most crucial carbon sinks being heavily affected.
What are the three types of rainforests?
Montane, Lowland and Temperate rainforests.
What are the four main contributors to deforestation?
Agriculture, logging, mining and man made fires.
Why is Indonesia moving their capital a bad thing?
Because it will take up lots of land and they ae putting it in a rainforest so it will all be destroyed.
What is the biggest cause of deforestation in Indonesia?
Palm oil farming.
What is the biggest cause of deforestation in Brazil?
Cattle farming.
Why are trees so important with out climate change crisis?
Because take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and destroying them as well as stopping them form taking more also means they release their stored carbon dioxide.
What is a montane rainforest?
Montane rainforests are less diverse than the other types and are quite hot and usually very close to the equator.
What is a temperate rainforest?
Temperate rainforests are located further from the equator in areas with what is considered are more “mild” climate and they receive heavy rainfall.
