Tendinopathy
A
Clinical syndrome characterized by pain, diffuse or localized swelling, and impaired fxn, may occur w/ overuse of a tendon.

Tendinitis
A
inflammation of a tendon.
- may occur anywhere there is a tendon, and is most commonly identified w/ pain on stretch, pain on palpation and pain w/ resisted ROM

Tendinosis
A
degeneration of tendon’s collagen in response to chronic overuse

4 Grades of Severity in Tendinitis
A
Grade 1 = pain after use only
Grade 2 = pain at beginning, not during, pain after
Grade 3 = pain at beginning, during & after use
Grade 4 = pain w/ ADLs – gets worse

Frictioning
A
- when frictioning a tendinitis, apply tension to mm w/o stretching it
- when cross fibre frictioning a tenosynovitis – apply a gentle stretch to the mm
