Temporal Squama
This rises almost vertically to form the cranial walls and articulate with the parietals along the squamous suture.
Parietal Notch
This is formed by the posterosuperior boarder of the temporal where the squamous and parietomastoid sutures meet.
Zygomatic Process
This is a thin projection of bone that forms the posterior half of the zygomatic arch.
External Acoustic Meatus (EAM)
This is the external opening of the ear canal, which passes anteromedially for about 2cm.
Mandibular Fossa
This lies posterosuperially to the articular eminence. Just anteriorly to the zygomatic process.
Mastoid Process
This bears an external surface that is roughened for the attachment of several muscles.
Mastoid Notch
Positioned medially to the mastoid process.
Occipital Groove
Lies just medially to the mastoid notch.
