Is the animal breathing and conscious?

A

If no to either initiate mouth to snout.

If yes to either don’t.

Is the animal seizuring?

A

If yes, remove from danger or falling or remove any sharp items. Take to vs immediately after seizure ends or if it lasts longer than 1-2 mins, take during seizure.

For situations where they can not being animal in- has the patient ingested something you suspect to be poisonous in the last two hours?

A

Sometimes at home Emesis may be recommended.

Is there active bleeding? Or obvious fractures/ exposed bone

A

Recommend clean towel over site, pressure if spurting blood, instruct owners to be careful not to get bitten
