When assessing a client with an irregular heart rhythm you should
Assess apical pulse for a full minute
The P wave represents
Atrial depolarization (atria are contracting and ventricles are filling)
Depolarization
Contracting
QRS complex represents
Ventricle depolarization (contracting)
T wave represents
Ventricular repolarization (ventricles are relaxing and filling with blood)
Actions when obtaining an EKG:
Tell the client to stay still, breathe normally, no talking, and inspect leads are in proper places and on right limbs.
Normal sinus rhythm bpm
60-100bpm
For Vfib we need Toto make sure we
Dfib
Expected HR for newborns is
90-130bpm
Atrial Flutter you will find
No P-wave present (saw toothed)
With Atrial Fibrillation expecte
An irregular heart rhythm. Only thing normal about this rhythm is the QRS complex.
Sinus Bradycardia SS
Low O2- pale skin and cyanosis of the lips
Atrial Fibrillation SS
Low O2 and possible clot
Atrial Flutter SS
Low O2 or blood clot.(Goes hand in hand with COPD)
