What is Plate Tectonic Theory?
A
The LITHOSPHERE is broken up into different tectonic plates that move relative to each other.
- mantel convection
- slab pull
- ridge push

What is mantle convection ?
A
Earth core produces heat - heats lower mantle - thus creates convection currents causing plates to move

What is slab pull?
A
Newly formed oceanic crust cools, becomes more dense, and sinks into the mantle pulls rest of plate down with it

What is subduction?
A
As two plates (one must be oceanic) close, one slides under the other where it melts and created subduction zone
