Q

Procedure for Michenbaum?

A

Each pp was tested using a test anxiety questionnaire and was allocated to their group:

1) SIT - 8 therapy sessions, ‘insight’ approach helped them identify their thoughts before hand, then positive statements to say and relaxation techniques
2) SD - 8 therapy sessions, progressive relaxation training (encouraged to use at home)
3) Control group told their were on a waiting list and would receive therapy in the future

Q

Budynski’s procedure?

A

For 5 weeks they kept a record of their headaches, A&B were given 16 sessions (2 a week for 8 weeks):
A- taught relaxation and told the clicks of biofeedback would reflect their muscle tension.
B- told to focus on clicks and given pseudo feedback
C- no training and told they’d get it in two months

Q

A

Independent design as women had existing social networks

16
Q

Participants for Waxler-Morrison?

A

133 women under 55 years (pre-menopause)

17
Q

Waxler-Morrisons procedure?

A
Emailed a questionnaire to gain info on:
1) existing social networks
2) educational level
3) who they were responsible for
4) contact with fam/friends
5) perception of support from f&f
Then given a psychometric test of social network that combined marital status, contact with f&f and church.
These were compared again records of diagnosis, survival and recursive.
18
Q

Waxler-Morrisons results?

A

6 aspects linked directly with survival:

Marital status, support from f&f, contact with f&f, total support, social network and employment
