Technique Chart Flashcards
Technique chart
The function of an exposure system is to provide the radiographer with the techniqal factors necessary to produce a radiograph with visible shades that represent anatomic structures
How is a technique chart made?
Stenic patient is used as a baseline to create technique chart
IR exposure
to record as much patient information as possible
Contrast/gray scale
Should be balanced so that differentiation between structures can be readily made
Recorded detail/spatial resolution
Maximum image sharpness possible is desired
Distortion
true shape, size, and spatial relationship should be consistent with the clinical needs of the examination
Patient exposure
Should be as low as reasonably achievable without compromising image quality
many factors must be considered in order to formulate a technique charts including:
mAs
kVp
SID
Grid ratio & type
Field size
Patient size - 85% of all patients will fall within average thickness ranges
Filtration
type of xray generator
pathology
OID
Focal spot size
Main 8 types of technqiue chart systems include:
Variable kVp
Fixed kVp
AEC
Anatomic programmed
Body habitus
bit system
supertech
proportional anatomy
Variable kilovoltage system
System was formulated by ed jerman in 1925 and involves varying the kVp to compensate for changes in patient size or condition
