Technical interview 1 Flashcards
Why do we use Mach Number?
Mach number will increase because local speed of sound will decrease with altitude. Mach no = TAS / local speed of sound (which depends from temperature (altitude). On climbing at constant IAS not only Mach no increases but TAS also increases.
The maximum operating limit speed (VMO/MMO airspeed or Mach Number, whichever is critical at a particular altitude) is a speed that may not be deliberately exceeded in any regime of flight (climb, cruise, or descent), unless a higher speed is authorized for flight test or pilot training operations.
Static stability
Static stability is the initial tendency of an aircraft to return to its original position after a disturbance.
1 - Positive, return to normal.
2- Neutral, stay in the new attitude.
3- Negative, it tends to move away from it original position.
