Teamwork Flashcards
Give An Example Of A Time You Worked In A Team And It Was Successful.
Myself and 3 other people had to do a presentation on climate change and renewable energy as part of an internship programme.
Our first task was to conduct research on climate change and renewable energy sources. Each team member brought a unique perspective, which in turn contributed to a well rounded understanding of the subject.
Our collaboration in the project extended further beyond just research, it involved active listening (listening to each other’s ideas, making sure everybody contributed, no one left in the dark) and open communication and recognising the significance of effective communication, we established a clear division of tasks, ensuring that each team member could specialise in their expertise while still contributing to the presentation.
For example - a girl was really good at using excel and analysing and making graphs, so we had her interpreting all this wordy information from our research and putting it into a much clearer graphical format. This division and delegation of tasks increased our workflow and our team morale.
At the end of all of our hard work we delivered a presentation that informed and also inspired action. The positive feedback we received highlighted the success of our teamwork, reinforcing the idea that a multidisciplinary approach can effectively tackle complex challenges.
What did you learn from this experience?
The lesson I learned from this project is that diversity in a team, both in terms of skills and perspectives can lead to innovative and successful outcomes. My team’s collaborative approach demonstrated the power of working together with different ideas and strengths.
Why is teamwork important?
I think it was good that I had the opportunity to take part in this project because teamwork is extremely important in a healthcare setting especially within a multidisciplinary team which is a diverse group of professionals who work together to deliver patient centred and coordinated care. I think it’s important because it allows doctors to collaborate with other medical professionals such as nurses, specialists, and support staff. This collaborative effort ensures that patients receive good quality care that’s able to address all aspects of their health. Different healthcare professionals bring unique perspectives and expertise to the table, this is good as it can make diagnoses more accurate and lead to more effective treatment planning.
Why do you think you succeeded?
Communicated well
avoided conflict by making sure everyone’s opinions are heard
wewere very organsied in our approach, so before we even started the presentation
Setting clear expectations, outlining goals means less confusion and more understanding overall about the project
Conflict you’ve experienced
shygirl didnt contribute much, louder girl confronted her, saying that “she never does anything” and she “never helps”
girl starts crying
Why is it important for doctors to be able to deal with situations in which there may be conflict
Dealing with situations involving conflict is a crucial skill for doctors for various reasons. In healthcare, doctors often work in multidisciplinary teams which is a diverse group of professionals who work together to deliver patient centred and coordinated care. Working in these teams, where diverse perspectives can lead to conflicts, the ability to manage these conflicts is essential for maintaining an effective working environment, ultimately improving patient outcomes. Additionally, conflicts may arise during interactions with patients and their families/loved ones. A doctors adeptness in conflict resolution becomes vital in addressing these concerns diplomatically so that a good patient-doctor relationship is preserved
