What does MISTAT stand for?
Mechanism of Injury Injury Sustained Signs and Symptoms (CABCDE) Treatment given Age of casualty Time of wounding
What are the signs and symptoms on a mistat?
Airway - clear/blocked Breathing - rate Pulse rate Conscious/unconscious Other signs/symptoms
What is the master drill?
CACT
Control - Win the firefight, control the situation
Assess - Will I create more casualties by attempting to treat them?
Communicate - Report what you know, wait out for more detailed report
Triage - T1/T2/T3/T4
Explain the different tiers of casualties.
Tier 1 - Life threatening/medivac
Tier 2 - Requires casivac
Tier 3 - Walking wounded
Tier 4 - Dead
What breathing rate would make someone a tier 1?
Under 10 or over 30 / minute
What pulse rate would make someone a tier 1?
Over 120 per minute
What is the process for a catastrophic limb bleed?
Apply tourniquet and note time, apply second tourniquet if needed
What is the process for catastrophic bleed to any other area?
Pack wound/apply chest seal, apply pressure
How do you check the airway?
Open the mouth, look for debris and remove it, check for breathing for 10 seconds.
After airway procedures if no breathing, what should you do?
Under effective enemy fire - dead
Not under fire - start BLS
If the person starts to breathe after airway drills, with difficulty, what should you check for?
Check for airway burn, CBRN contamination, sucking chest wound
