Q

Can you discuss an ethical challenge you were confronted and how your responded?

A

Situation: strategy& project, discovered inconsistencies that suggested certain stats being misrepresented in our preliminary findings - in specific reason was unusually high compared to historical trends
Challenge: may be inflated, if not addresses could lead to inaccurate conclusions and recommendations in final report to UK DoE - ethical dilemma as may delay
Response: client centric approach, sense of integrity, highlighted error and recommended a thorough re-evaluation of data source and checks
Outcome: corrected and was commended by the team for my ethical diligence and commitment to accuracy even in the face of tight deadlines.

Q

What was the most difficult situation you faced as a leader and how did you respond

A

Sitch: as VP of EFS, keynote speaker cancelled before large event, unable to come give the talk
Challenge: had to find replacement or risk loss of credibility and disappointing audience.
Response: convened, brainstormed potential replacement speakers and leveraged extensive network to try secure new speaker within 48 hours. Had an idea to ask if it could be given online instead.
Outcome: gave it online, although we understand not the same effect as in person, still a highly successful event.

Q

Does the leader make the team?

A

No, the team makes the team
- leader can provide direction and unify everyone, but 1 person alone is not a team, a leader can make things better and turn a dysfunctional team, but its the team which in the end makes it a success or bust.
- example, strategy& team was a little confused as manager was unavailable and tasks weren’t delegated effectively. Leader came and delegated, and team improved its efficiency significantly once a direction was provided to each member.
