TD 54 Flashcards
First step in case of two-way radio failure?
Attempt to contact on a secondary frequency, the previously assigned frequency, the TWR frequency, or guard
What do you do if unable to re-establish communications and unable to maintain VMC?
- Proceed with a published instrument approach procedure or previously coordinated instructions. Change transponder to 7600
- Maintain the last assigned altitude or the minimum safe/sector altitude (emergency safe altitude if more than 25 NM from the facility), whichever is higher, until established on a segment of the published approach.
If you haven’t reached the DH on a PAR yet, when would you still be advised to execute a missed approach?
When PAR safety limits are exceeded or a radical deviation is observed
When is radar monitoring automatically provided?
- When weather is less than 1000/3
- When requested by the pilot
- At night (N/A at U.S. Army Airfields)
What is ALS?
Approach Lighting System
What is your MDA for an ASR?
Received by ATC - They will also call out when you’re at your MAP
Regarding lost communication - How often must you hear from ATC on:
ASR final APP
PAR final APP
When being vectored to final
ASR = Every 15 seconds
PAR = Every 5 seconds
When being vectored to final = Every Minute
What does precision pulse radar detect and display?
Precise azimuth, range and elevation information
What do you do in case of a no-gyro approach?
ATC will announce = “turn left, turn right” instead of = “turn left heading 305”
