IP Address
The IP address identifies both the logical host and the logical network address. Each host must have a unique IP address. Same subnet devices must have same network portion of address, but unique host portion of address. Can’t use the first or last host address on a subnet address range
Subnet Mask
Identifies which portion of the IP address is the network address and which portion is the host. Two devices on the same subnet must have the same subnet mask
Default Gateway
Identifies the router to which the communications for remote networks are sent. It is the IP address of the router interface on the same subnet as the local host. Without a default gateway address, most clients will be unable to communicate with hosts outside of local subnet
DNS Server
This address identifies the DNS server that is used
Host Name
Identifies the logical name of the host on the local system
