TCA Flashcards

1
Q

How is the binding of citrate synthase ordered?

A

oxaloacetate binds first inducing an open form for acetyl-CoA. When acetyl-CoA binds closes compactly for catalysis

Q

how is citrate synthase inhibited? activated?

A

inhibited:
competitively by citrate, succinyl-CoA and long chain acyl-CoA

allosterically: ATP, NADH
activated: NAP and ADP and increased substrate concentration

Q

how is isocitrate dehydrogenase inhibited? activated?

A

inhibited: ATP and NADH (Cooperative)
usually first to respond to NADH levels leading to citrate accumulation

activated: allosterically stimulated by ADP, NAD and Ca2+
