TC 3-04.93 Flashcards
What are the three types of vision?
photopic
scotopic
mesopic
What are the three types of spatial disorientation? describe them.
Unrecognized: the the Pilot has no idea his senses are in conflict with reality
recognized: the pilot may think there is an issue with their flight controls or that there instruments are malfunctioning
Incapacitating: the pilot is no longer able to control the AC
What are the self-imposed stressors?
Drugs, Exhaustion, Alchohol, Tobacco, Hypoglycemia
What are the types of hypoxia?
Hypoxic hypoxia, histotoxic hypoxia, Hypemic hypoxia, and stagnant hypoxia
Describe the different phases of fatigue
Acute: fatigue accumulated throughout a regular sleep cycle. becoming drowsy after being awake for 16 hours.
Chronic: Several episodes of Acute fatigue without sufficient rest periods.
Motivational burnout: chronic fatigue left untreated for too long. the individual shuts down.
Define elevator illusion
a G-excess illusion whereby a false sense of pitch may be experienced in the head.
What are methods for preventing hypoxia?
limit time at altitude
Supplemental oxygen
Pressurize cabin
Name the different stages of hypoxia
indifferent
compensatory
disturbance
critical
How long does it take dark adaptation to occur
30-45 minutes
How can crew members equalize pressure during descent?
yawning
tensing throat muscles
swallowing
valsalva maneuver
The most important actions for treating fatigue are______ and getting ____ (not drug induced) sleep.
resting, natural
What are the three types of hearing loss?
prebyscusis
sensoneuriual
conductive
What are the three types of light adaptation and what viewing periods are they associated with?
photopic: during day light and high levels of artificial light
mesopic: during twilight as well as during nights with a full moon
scotopic: during low light such as partial moon light or star light
What are the four mechanisms the body uses to maintain heat balance?
radiation
convection
conduction
evaporation
Linear accelerration and deceleration stimulate what organs?
Otolith organs
