Targeting macrophages in solid cancers Flashcards
1
Q
What does CCL2 do?
A
It recruits macrophages but also promotes their tumorigenic functions.
2
Q
Why are macrophages a bad prognosis in cancer?
A
Macrophages enable cancer cells to leave the TME.
3
Q
Why should we target macrophages in solid tumors?
A
Macrophages in cancer have a different phenothype than normal macrophages, and we want to turn this phenotype back to ‘normal’ anti-tumor phenotype.
4
Q
What are possible macrophage targeted therapies?
A
CSF-1R inhibition, MAPK inhibition and CD40 agonist.
