A
- Break Contact
- Move a safe distance away and quickly establish a security halt

When to Send a SPOTREP During IA Drill
A
- Just before departing the security halt location
- When you decide to continue the mission

A
- Chance Contact
- Near Ambush

Chance Contact Definition
A
When the patrol or an individual detects the enemy but is not seen themselves

Chance Contact Immediate Action
A
- Freeze signal (raised fist)
- Hasty ambush, pumping fist in the direction the ambush is to be set up
- If undetected the enemy is allowed to pass

Mutual Discovery Immediate Action
A
- Immediate assault (verbal command “CONTACT ____”
- Patrol moves into line formation and attacks
- Assault is stopped if enemy withdraws
- Break contact, move to ORP

Australian Peel
A
- Man nearest enemy open fire and give ADDRAC
- Men in succession fire at the enemy, then leap frog in the opposite direction of contact
- Continue to fire and leap frog until contact broken
- All patrol members fire the designated amount of ammunition at Max rate before disengaging
- TEC will use this time to ready casualty producing device

Near Ambush Immediate Actions
A
- Verbal command (<40 meters)
- “Immediate Assault” - Men in the kill zone assault into and through the enemy position
- The rest of the patrol assaults through other elements of the ambush
- The entire patrol links up beyond the enemy position for hasty consolidation
- Move out as soon as possible

Far Ambush Immediate Actions
A
- Verbal command (>40 meters)
- “Leap frog” - Men in the kill zone immediately return fire
- Men not in the kill zone provide suppressive fires
- Men in the kill zone start to leap frog back
- Leap frog until contact is broken

Sniper Immediate Actions
A
- A type of far ambush
1. Immediately get down behind cover
2. Crawl out of the area - Do not attempt to pinpoint the location of the sniper
- Utilize smoke and CS to conceal movement
- Be sure to gauge winds correctly

Air, Not Seen Immediate Actions
A
- Immediately freeze
- If there is time, move under concealment then freeze
- Move out once aircraft has left

Air Attack Immediate Action
A
- First to sight shouts “Aircraft (front, left, right, rear)
- Patrol moves into line formation perpendicular to aircraft path
