A

When the patrol or an individual detects the enemy but is not seen themselves

A
  1. Freeze signal (raised fist)
  2. Hasty ambush, pumping fist in the direction the ambush is to be set up

Mutual Discovery Immediate Action

A
  1. Immediate assault (verbal command “CONTACT ____”
  2. Patrol moves into line formation and attacks
  3. Assault is stopped if enemy withdraws
  4. Break contact, move to ORP

Australian Peel

A
  1. Man nearest enemy open fire and give ADDRAC
  2. Men in succession fire at the enemy, then leap frog in the opposite direction of contact
    - Continue to fire and leap frog until contact broken
    - All patrol members fire the designated amount of ammunition at Max rate before disengaging
    - TEC will use this time to ready casualty producing device

Near Ambush Immediate Actions

A
  1. Verbal command (<40 meters)
    - “Immediate Assault”
  2. Men in the kill zone assault into and through the enemy position
  3. The rest of the patrol assaults through other elements of the ambush
  4. The entire patrol links up beyond the enemy position for hasty consolidation
  5. Move out as soon as possible

A
  1. Verbal command (>40 meters)
    - “Leap frog”
  2. Men in the kill zone immediately return fire
  3. Men not in the kill zone provide suppressive fires
  4. Men in the kill zone start to leap frog back
  5. Leap frog until contact is broken
