Talisha's lecture Flashcards
Why injuries need movement?
To increase tissue capacity as injury occurs as a result of applied load> Tissue capacity
Movement is essential for triggering the correct cellular Reponses required for healing adaptation
Early mechanincal loading is the key for long term recovery
What are the analogies for soft tissue injuries
RICE
POLICE
PEACE –> Protection, elevation, anti-inflammatory, compression and education
LOVE: load, optimism, vascularisation and exercise
What are the key steps in Rehab programming
- Normal physiology and function
-Pathophysiology and functional deficits - Tissue response to load
- Individual factors
-Communication and education
steps to formulating exercise program?
1- Client goal- where they want to be, what activities they want to get back
2- What is the function of tissue- How much the tissue needs to function in the desired activity
3-Barriere to achieve the desired activity- what impact do pathology have on the tissue, are there any psychobehavioral elements
4- What is their current functional capacity of the tissue
