Tail Flashcards
Bushy sabre tail, tapering to the tip; set on rather low; reaching at least to the hock joint; at rest, it hangs either straight
down or with a slight saber-like curve in its last third part; in action carried higher, but never above the topline
White Swiss Shepherd Dog
Short, preferably natural.
Docked: Short.
Undocked: Set in line with topline. Natural carriage above topline when moving or alert.
Welsh Corgi Pembroke
Like a fox’s brush set in line with the body and moderately long (to touch or nearly touch ground). Carried low when standing but may be lifted a little above body when moving, not curled over back.
Welsh Corgi Cardigan
Docked: Length not exceeding 10cms (4 ins) when adult. Set on as a continuation of croup line. May be raised at attention.
Undocked: May be born tailless. Any length. Natural carriage.
Swedish Vallhund
Set low; tapering bone reaches to at least hock; with abundant hair and slight upward sweep. May be slightly raised when moving but never over level of back. Never kinked.
Shetland Sheepdog
Medium length, curled tightly over the rump-loin area; long hair of the tail mixes indistinguishably with similar hair of rump, so that tail does not appear separate.
Puli
Docked: Previously completely docked.
Undocked: Natural carriage. Well feathered with abundant, hard-textured coat. Can be naturally bobtail.
Old English Sheepdog
Set on high, short, thick, and hair longer on underside, tightly curled, and carried over back.
Norwegian Buhund
Low set due to the sloping rump, in normal stance reaching below the level of the hock. Hanging down when the dog is stationary; carried level with back line with a rather strongly hooked tip when the dog is moving. Well furnished with dense hair without fringes.
