SCS
Strategic Connectivity System
WWMCCS
World Wide Military Command and Control System
2 Types of TACAMO/ ABNCP Networks
Directed & Free
Directed Net
permission required from NECOS prior to transmit
FLASH
initial enemy contact reports or operational combat messages of extreme urgency
Free Net
permission not needed to transmit
Surface Waves
follow the earth’s curvature (ie. ELF, VLF, LF)
Space Waves
travel relatively unimpeded; Line-of-Sight (LOS)
ie. UHF, EHF, SHF
2 Types of Ground Waves
surface waves & space waves
Sky Waves
travels upward and outward;
reflected off of the ionosphere making long range communication possible (ie. HF)
VLF Transmit
long-range anti-jam data communication
VLF Receive
data reception link only from other strategic forces
HF (distance)
long-range, over-the-horizon communications
HF Primary Use
Emergency Action Messages (EAMs) dissemination and reception at designated times
HF Secondary Use
relay of voice and/or data communications as operationally required
UHF
LOS voice communications;
survivable tactical communications by means of MILSTAR
