What is the function of the ICS?
to provide low crosstalk, secure and nonsecure communications from station to station and from station to radio and to other avionic system communication interfaces on the E-6B aircraft
Where is the Communications Control Unit located?
E45 rack in the FWD lower lobe
What are the power requirements for the CCU?
28 VDC from PRI CCU & SEC CCU c/b on P5
What is the function of the CCU?
“brains” of ICS
provides interface for radios and communications subsystems
Where are the Crew Station Units (CSUs) located and how many are there?
4 on flight deck
4 in mission area (ACOMs)
1 at Reel Op station
What are the power requirements of the CSUs?
28 VDC from P5
What is the function of the CSU?
Flight Deck - monitor systems
Mission - access R/Ts for transmission
Reel - monitor the 3 ICS channels
Where are the Auxiliary Control Units (ACUs) located and how many are there?
4/ positions 17,18,20, 21 (ACOMs)
What are the power requirements of the ACU?
28 VDC from MSN-1 & MSN-2 c/b P5
What is the function of the ACU?
allow access to VHF/UHF and HF 1 transmitters
Position 21 can utilize TSEC 8
Which HF radios are capable of going secure?
HF 3, 4, & 5
Where is the Maintenance Control Unit (MCU) located?
ACO Station in Comm Central
What are the power requirements for the MCU?
28 VDC from 28 VDC DAISS 1 on E42-1/ & AF AMP on P5
What is the function of the MCU?
provide access to the CALL Intercom Network and Emergency PA
Where are the Maintenance Station Units (MSUs) located and how many are there?
Lower Lobes, External Jacks, Reel Area, Galley
