What is Conscience?

Answer 1

The voice of God in people’s hearts guiding them to make the right choice.
* ‘The most secret core of man…where he is alone with God’
* Natural Instinct - We instinctively know the right thing to do (natural law)
* Needs to be educated - Shapes, developed so we interpret it correctly (listening to others, Church teachings, bible etc)

What are teachings about conscience?

Answer 2

• People shouldn’t ignore what they believe God is telling them.
• Listening to others can help people to understand the effects of their actions, as well as to be confident they are interpreting their conscience correctly.
• Holy Spirit guided the Church’s teachings so should not be ignored, even if Catholic conscience says otherwise.

How has Salvation taken place in the past?

Answer 3

Jesus’ death, resurrection, burial and ascension made it possible for people to enter Heaven.

Question 4

How does Salvation take place in the present.

Answer 4

We choose whether to accept or reject salvation by following Jesus’ teachings. Holy spirit guides people towards heaven.

Question 5

How will Salvation take place in the future?

Answer 5

Salvation will be completed by the end of time - Sin and death will be completely destroyed.
