Data must be accurate, if not then the analysis of the data will not be helpful either.

Reasons for data inaccuracy
- Outdated
- Bias
- Mistyped
Validation - Definition
Checking data is sensible, which helps reduce errors. Doesn’t check its correctness, just checks suitability.
Validation checks:
- Range check
- Length check
- Format check
- Presence check
- Type check
Verification - Definition
Checking data has been entered correctly, do they match?
Verification methods:
- Double entry check
- Link sent to email
- Checking against original documents
Analysis of Data
Once data has been checked for accuracy, it can be processed.
