Q

How can identity explore lived experience?

A

Identity can be local by emotional ownership for a place, rarely political but shown through nimbyism ‘not my back yard’ when people are reluctant for change, it can be regional as people have loyalty to a district and it can be national when someone is patriotic and loyal to a nation
- People might identify with a place through a language, flag, national anthem and cultural events
- Places can lose identity due to glocalisation has occurred with TNCs entering local markets creating ‘clone towns’ and placelessness
