Description (what happened)
Explanation (why it happened)
Prediction (tells us if explanation is right or wrong)
Control (how to make it happen)
Four Approaches to Understanding (a,a,r,e)
Authority, Analogy, Rule, Emperical
First Approach to Understanding
Authority - Seeking information thought to be reliable and valid
Second Approach to Understanding
Analogy - Finding an analogy between a new event and a familiar event
Third Approach to Understanding
Rule - Establish rules that cover a variety of different observations
Fourth Approach to Understanding
Emperical - Testing ideas against actual events
What is a Hypothesis
