What are the four different Jewish groups
Zealots, Essenes, Sadducees, Pharisees
Who were the Essenes
Group of Holy people
Simple life, strict and very religious
Followed 10 commandments
Helped sick and strangers
Who were the Zealots
Believed in using violence
Had a zeal for God
Thought war would remove Romans
Were called freedom fighters or terrorists
Who were the Pharisees
Followed 613 Jewish laws
Read laws and told other people what they could do and not do
Believed all Jews should be made to keep Jewish laws
Who were the Sadducees
Rich and powerful
Priests and aristocrats
Kept money and power by bribing Romans
They believed in negotiating and having discussions with Roman leaders
Jesus was given gold

They tell us the facts of what happened and they try to get us to understand the identity and significance of Jesus often they do this by using symbols
