A - Ace inhibitor to maintain BP
C - CCB for BP
A- aspirin
A - atorvastatin
B - beta blockers to reduce HR to prevent shearing of coronary arteries
T2DM
what is 1st line treatment
metformin (= a biguanide)
to increase peripheral tissue sensitivity to insulin
side effects: can give GI distress, tummy pain
T2DM
what is 2nd line treatment
a sulfonylurea (eg. gliclazide)
to increase insulin pancreatic secretion
side effects: can give hypoglycaemic episodes and weigh gain
