Q

Circulatory System Function: Veins

A
  • After the exchange, blood flows into veins then back to the heart

Q

Disease: Coronary Artery Disease

A
  • When coronary arteries become partially blocked with plaque. Plaque buildup can be caused by bad genetics or poor lifestyle choices

Q

Disease: Heart Attack

A
  • When plaque builds up so nothing can get through anymore. The heart is no longer able to get the nutrients and oxygen it needs. Heart tissue begins to die

Q

Organs Involved

A
  • The heart. The hearts job is to pump blood so it can be transported everywhere

Q

Blood

A
  • Red blood cell membrane contain glycoproteins
  • The glycoproteins are called RBC antigens
  • RBC antigens help your immune system recognize RBCS as a part of your system
  • There are two types of RBC antigens, A and B
  • Your immune system can only tolerate your RBC antigen, meaning you must get the same type

Q

Positive or Negative?

A

If you have an RH factor (protein found on the surface of red blood cells) your blood will be positive, if not it will be negative

16
Q

Blood Pressure (2 types)

A

Systolic Pressure: When pressure in arteries reach max and the ventricles contract to push blood through

Diastolic Pressure: When pressure in arteries are at the lowest and the ventricles are not contracting

17
Q

Pulse Rate

A

How many times your heart beats
