Hydraulic system on the Archer?
Each toe brake and the hand brake have their own master cylinder, however, they share a common reservoir. The brake fluid reservoir is located on the top left front face of the firewall.

Engine/propeller
Fuel/oil
The Archer has a wet sump oil system. This system has an internal oil pan at the bottom of the engine that is pumped to the different bearings via a single oil pump.
- The Archer uses 15W-50 oil.
- Min oil temperature is 75 degrees F and max oil temperature is 245 degrees F
- Min oil pressure is 25 PSI and max 115 PSI
How do differential ailerons work?
The up aileron moves farther than the down aileron.
- For example: when turning the yoke to the left, the down aileron (right) increases the camber of the wing, thus increasing lift, but also drag, causing adverse yaw. To negate this, the left (up) aileron moves higher to create more parasite drag, thus decreasing the amount of adverse yaw.
Describe how the engine starts.
When turning the battery master on, this provides power to the starter. When the starter is activated, it rotates a spinning gear that connects with the flywheel. The flywheel is connected to the crankshaft, which is geared to the magnetos. The magneto includes a magnet that spins closely to a coil of copper wires. This provides the electricity to provide spark to the spark plugs. When the spark plug produces a spark, the fuel/air mixture ignites and pushes the piston down, turning the crankshaft, and thus, the propeller. This now becomes a self-sustaining process.
