What is powered with only the batteries on?
Displays 2/3, IESS, #1 CCD, #2 MCDU, #2 radio, clock, whisky compass light
What does the ground power AVAIL light mean?
GPU power is connected, available, and correct
If an AC GPU is connected and in use will we get full AC/DC power?
Yes
How many volts are required for APU start?
What is the minimum battery temp for APU start?
- 5 VDC
- 20 C battery 2
How can the APU be started with a low battery?
DC GPU
What is the only time battery voltage can be checked?
Batts on before starting anything or connecting GPU
After APU start when does it start to provide electrical power?
95%+3 seconds
If GPU was connected, it goes back to avail
How much power does the IDG generate?
What about the APU generator?
115VAC, 40KVA for both
What does an amber light by the APU disconnect switch mean?
High oil temp and/or low oil pressure
Besides the disconnect switch, are there any other ways for the IDG to be disconnected?
The CSD input shaft has a shear section
Can one IDG support the entire electrical system?
Sure can
What will power AC bus 2 if the #2 IDG craps out and the APU happens to be running?
APU
When might we select the AC bus ties to open?
Short circuit
What happens if both IDGs die?
The RAT deploys
What electrical system does the RAT power?
Does it power any hydraulic systems?
It will power the AC essential bus and the hydraulic system 3A
With only the RAT for electrical power, will the slats and flaps work?
Yes, however they will only function at half speed
What should we do after the RAT deploys?
Probably start the APU for more electrical power and start looking for a place to land
If you are flying at FL330 can you start the APU?
No, you must descend to FL300
What is the max altitude for APU bleed for packs and engine start?
FL150 and FL210
What the the TRUs do?
Convert 115VAC to 28VDC at 300 amps
When the RAT deploys what happens?
Batteries power the systems through the inverters for the 8 seconds it takes for it to deploy and spin up, then you get AC power to the essential bus and DC essential power through the ESS TRU
Is the dome light connected to the hot battery bus?
Yes, but it only works if the flight attendant courtesy light button is pressed
How is the fire test accomplished?
Press the test button for at least three seconds and both fire handles, both cargo fire lights, both APU fire lights, EICAS messages for all of the above, both master warning lights, and both ITT Gauges give fire messages
What are the memory items for engine fire?
Auto throttles off, associated throttle to idle, start/ stop selector to stop, pull fire handle, land at nearest appropriate airport, QRH

How is the DVDR test accomplished?
Push button, wait for lights to finish
