System Engineering in Aerospace industry Flashcards
Name any 4 on-board systems
Hydraulic Pneumatic Electrical Fuel Landing gear A/C Environmental Emergency Flight controls Nav and avionics
From a safety and success stand point, how do we class Aerospace systems?
Primary- If they fail endangers safety of aircraft (Flight controls)
Secondary- If they fail, will degrade performance but not safety (A/C)
Auxiliary- If they fail, creates discomfort, will allow mission to be achieved (Passenger entertainment)
What are the design specs for aero sys?
- Qualitative and quantitative defs of sys function
- Def of environmental characteristics (Pressure, temp, density, humidity, micro gravity, radiation acceleration)
- Maintainability
What are the important constraints for design of a aero sys?
Relations to other systems or structure or propulsion of the aircraft. For example weight
What represents a “Functional Diagram” of the system?
A block diagram where each block is a subsystem
Name any type of functional drawing
Installation
Assembling
Name all the quantities defining power and provide equations
Mechanical-Angular velocity-Moment (torque)-P=AV*M
Electrical-Voltage-Current-P=VI
Hydraulic-Pressure-Volumetric flow rate-P=pv
Pneumatic-Spec. enthalpy-mass flow rate-P=hm
Name any onboard sys and which power it uses (E-electric, P-pneumatic, H- Hydraulic, M-Mechanical)
