SYS: Fuel Flashcards
Number of tanks in each side?
3 tanks; Main, Inboard and header tank.
How Manu sump drains are there in the system?
4
Where are the header tanks located?
In the lower aft left and right sides of the cowling
What happens to the fuel remaining in the fuel manifold?
It drains into an EPA fuel purge system. Accumulated engine bleer air forces the residual fuel into the burner upon shutdown. A slight and momentarily increase in ITT and the possible presence of smoke in the exhaust is normal as the residual fuel is consumed.
Where does the system messure fuel temperature?
The fuel temperature probe is located in the right inboard fuel tank
How does the system slow down the cooling process at altitude?
Below -23˚C, the fuel return solenoid valve downstream of the High pressure gear driven pump opens and return warm unused fuel from the fuel control unit to the outboard left and right fuel tanks.
The return fuel solenoid valve will be energized open when the following conditions are met:
1: _____
2: _____
1: The valve will always be open during an engine start, regardless of the other conditions.
2: When the fuel temperature indicator is below -23˚C AND the total fuel quantity is more than 100 lbs.
The return fuel solenoid valve Will be de-energized when the following conditions are met:
1: _____
2: _____
1: Fuel temperature indicator is above -23˚C and the engine is not in start cycle.
2: Total fuel quantity is less than 100 lbs. And the engine is not in start cycle.
How does the electric boost pump work in AUTO mode?
It turns ON when fuel px from the engine driven pump drops below 9 psig, and remains on until px increases to 12 psig.
NOTE: CAS, red FUEL PRESS LOW and White L/R FUEL PUMP ON
Can the fuel system correct fuel imbalance it self?
Yes. Boost pump on heavy side activates once 25 lbs. Imbalance is reached.
NOTE: If imbalance reaches 40 lbs CAS FUEL PUMP ON Will illuminate with amber FUEL IMBALANCE.
NOTE: If imbalance reaches 125 lbs CAS red FUEL IMBALANCE will illuminate.
