Don’t use a syringe smaller than 10 cm to give things intravenously > rapture cannula and damage the vein and catheter inside:

- Do not use a syringe that is smaller than 10 cm to flush to confirm patency
- Using a syringe that is smaller than 10cm can produce a higher pressure in the lumen
- This can cause the catheter to rupture and damage the vein
- Using a syringe with an internal diameter smaller than 10cm can cause an infiltration or extravasation injury when faced with resistance
