A
Inappropriate ADH thus too much water is reabsorbed
- serum Na decreased
- urine osmolality increased
- urine Na increased

A
Symptoms and signs of hyponatraemia

Causes of SIADH?
A
CNS pathology
Lung pathology (pneumonia)
Drugs (SSRIs, TCA, opiates, PPIs, carbamazepine)
Tumours (breast cancer as well)

Signs of SIADH?
A
Low serum Sodium
Urine osmolality high
Urine Sodium high

Management of SIADH?
A
1 - Treat the underlying cause
2 - Fluid restriction to 0.5-1L
3 - If ineffective, give demeclocycline or vasopressin receptor antagonist (tolvaptan)

A
