Decreased heart function due to cardiac contractility
Systolic BP 70-100 with no signs of shock
Dobutamine contraindications 2
Untreated hypovolemia
Vasodilatory shock (septic, neuro, anaphylactic). Can cause further dilation
Dobutamine dosage
2.5-5 mcg/kg/min max 20 mcg to get BP > 90
Isoproterenol also known as
Isuprel
Isoproterenol indications
Hemodynamically significant bradycardia in denervated heart transplant pts or
Refractory to pacing, atropine, dopamine and epinephrine
Beta blocker OD
Isoproterenol contraindications
Cardiogenic shock
Isoproterenol dosage
1 mg mixed in 500 ml d5
2-10 mcg/min until desired heart rate or ventricular irritability
