beta lower bp by directly blocking sympathetic nervous input –> decreased FORCE of contraction.

what is the effect of AChes at the CNS?
pass BBB, initial excitation then depression –> resp failure.

used in glaucoma as contracts ciliary muscles (reducing intraocular p as increases fluid outflow).
